Montecasino is a leisure complex in Sandton, a suburb of Johannesburg. It is a very well-done, full-scale replica of an Italian town. As its name suggests, it has a large casino, but it also features restaurants, theatres, cinemas and shops.

 There is an actual Italian town called Cassino, but Monte Cassino is the name of a large  rocky hill two kilometres to the west of that town, and 130Km south-east of Rome. The hill is the site of the Roman town of Casinum, best known for its historic abbey.
